In Love With a Star

Sputtering little dot
Out there all alone
Dull little spot
Gnawed down to the bone
Worthless little thing
So very far away
Might’ve never been seen
Except by me today
You may have a name
Might not be that special
And if to you it’s all the same
Tonight you’ll be treated gentle.
You may not even care
But tonight I’ll recognize you
The darkness you wear
And the beauty that shines through
A barely noticeable speck
Something we have in common
A simple turn of the neck
Of each other we’ll be forgotten.
I wonder if our eyes ever met
Over this unmeasurable distance
I wonder if we’ll ever meet
If theres a chance I won’t miss it.
